If You’d Like to Know Me Better…

I graduated from Dartmouth in 2011 with a B.A. in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies. The day after, I moved to Egypt to start a masters program at the American University of Cairo. While there, I joined a parkour team and broke my neck over-flipping off of a ledge. I was still wearing a thick plastic neck brace when I moved to New York City in June of 2012. Thankfully, I made a full recovery.

That year, I also signed up to be a poll worker and have worked an election every year since.

I combined these two interests after graduating from the University of Iowa’s MFA program in 2016, and I’m now an independent journalist living in Brooklyn.

If you want to know what I'm up to, follow me on Twitter and / or sign up for my newsletter: Spenser’s Super Tuesday.
